Owners of private and municipal lands with a registration certificate or private quarry permit issued since 1992 are eligible for a grant up to $200,000 for new rehabilitation projects that:
- protect the environment against adverse effects;
- minimize the detrimental impact on adjoining lands;
- minimize hazards to public safety; and
- leave the site in a state that is compatible with adjoining land uses.
Eligible project activities include sloping and grading, moving oversized boulders and other materials, spreading overburden and topsoil, and purchasing seed to cover graded areas.
Applications will be open until June 15 and successful grant recipients will be notified in mid-July. Approved projects must be completed by Jan. 31, 2023.
