The Rural Municipality of St. Clements invites applications for a Permanent Full Time Landfill Operator at our Libau Landfill
The successful candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED an asset
· Be able to successfully pass the Basic Landfill Operators Course & SWANA exam. The completion date of this will depend on the course and exam schedules, but would be expected to be within 6 months of position award.
· Previous landfill operating experience an asset
· Experience operating and maintaining trash compactor an asset
· Experience operating and maintaining D6, or similar dozer
· Experience operating and maintaining large excavator
· Experience operating and maintaining loaders
· Ability to direct users to proper disposal areas and supervise the appropriate separation of materials, while screening for prohibited waste
· Ability to effectively communicate with the public, colleagues, in a courteous and respectful manner in all aspects of site operations & waste management practices
· Ability to use sound judgement and initiative without immediate supervision to maintain compliance with operating license.
· Ability to perform monitoring and maintenance of landfill cells, storage ponds, leachate collection systems, and drainage systems
· Valid Class V Driver’s License, clean Driving Abstract
Rate of Pay: $30.40 per hour and as per current Union Collective Agreement. Less $1.00 per hour 6 month qualifying period.
It is expected this person would have to work at the RM of St. Clements Class 1 Regional Landfill in Libau during site business hours, currently Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.
The preferred candidate would also have:
· welding and/or mechanical ability, repairing of equipment above
· experience operating other equipment such as tractor / lowbed, rubber tire backhoes, motor graders, tandem truck / snow plow
