In December 2020, the Clean Environment Commission published the Review of Legislation and Programs for Sites Impacted by Development. Manitoba Conservation and Climate will be holding an information session about the thirteen recommendations that were made under the Contaminated Sites Remediation Act.

The report includes:

  • the background and current state of legislation and programming addressing contamination and degradation of sites across Canada;
  • a review of management approaches associated with orphaned and abandoned mining and oil and gas sites;
  • an in-depth assessment of Manitoba’s legislation and programs; and
  • options and recommendations for program improvements in Manitoba.

Following the information session MEIA will be initiating a formal feedback process for all interested stakeholders to provide comments, concerns and questions of clarity on the thirteen recommendations focused on the Contaminated Sites Remediation Act.
