Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

As a part of our continued growth, our Winnipeg office has an outstanding opportunity for an Environmental Field Technician. Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in impact analysis and permitting, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, environmental health and safety management, water and natural resources and waste services.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and cooperative environment, carrying out a number of responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

  • Field services and related activities including: Environmental drilling (for Phase II/III Environmental Site Assessment), sample collection - soil and groundwater, and remediation/monitoring activities
  • Drilling – environmental drill rigs, ground disturbance procedures, soil description, field screening, sample collection and monitoring well installation
  • Groundwater Monitoring – purging and sample collection
  • Remediation – leading on-site activities for remedial soil excavations and soil sample collection
  • Support project managers and senior staff in development, coordination and delivery of environmental assessments and monitoring programs
  • Safety – leading and participating in field meetings, oversight of subcontractors, contributing to and following safe work practices, developing/following/implementing safety plans on a day-to-day basis
  • Work in a team or independently under the mentorship and direction of senior staff
  • Field work locally and in remote locations; candidate may be away from home for extended periods of time
  • Management of field and analytical data (data entry, database maintenance, QA/QC)
  • Management and maintenance of sampling gear
  • Provide other technical support on various environmental and geotechnical projects, including Phase I environmental site assessments and environmental baseline studies
  • Assisting in preparation of reports for clients and regulatory agencies

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in Environmental Technology/Geological Technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in diverse teams
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Confidence working in the field at remote locations, sometimes for extended durations
  • Strong organizational skills for coordinating field work, equipment and sample handling
  • Positive, safety minded attitude
  • Some lifting, carry and operating of field equipment in various types of terrain may be required
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience (1-3 years) performing environmental field work is a preferred asset
